چکیده

In this brief, a theoretical analysis on the limits of conventional chopper stabilization technique is presented and a solution conceived to improve the amplifier performance is proposed. The expected replicas of the 1 noise at the chopping frequency and its multiples are attenuated by a modified chopping control. Simulations done by using records of real 1 noise outputs showed that, by following the proposed approach, the spectrum of the signal is not affected while the 1 replicas are reduced by more than 40 dB with respect to conventional techniques. The required circuit for the generation of the chopping signal is also described. The resulting overhead with respect to conventional techniques is negligible and fully acceptable.

Dynamic Offset Cancellation Techniques for Operational Amplifiers

At low frequencies, offset, 1/f noise and drift are the dominant error sources of operational amplifiers. This is especially true in CMOS technology. This chapter reviews precision techniques that can be used to achieve low 1/f noise and low offset in operational amplifiers. There are three types of CMOS offset cancellation techniques: trimming, chopping, and auto-zeroing. Trimming is usually p...

Nested Chopper Stabilization in Analog Multipliers and Mixers by Philip Godoy

We describe a general offset-cancelling architecture for analog multiplication using chopper stabilization. Chopping is used to modulate the offset away the output signal where it can be easily filtered out, providing continuous offset reduction which is insensitive to drift. Both square wave chopping and chopping with orthogonal spreading codes are tested and shown to reduce the offset down to...

A Low-Noise Low-Offset Capacitive Sensing Amplifier for a 50- g= Hz Monolithic CMOS MEMS Accelerometer

This paper describes a CMOS capacitive sensing amplifier for a monolithic MEMS accelerometer fabricated by post-CMOS surface micromachining. This chopper stabilized amplifier employs capacitance matching with optimal transistor sizing to minimize sensor noise floor. Offsets due to sensor and circuit are reduced by ac offset calibration and dc offset cancellation based on a differential differen...

In this paper, reduced power consumption, low-noise CMOS amplifier using chopper technique is designed, chopper-equalized amplifier had been used as a front end of a voltage-to-frequency converter instrument which performs pretty well, and they were meeting just about every specification, but they had a problem with undesired and unpleasant little offset shifts and jumps. Trying to solve this p...

A 0.6 V Supply CMOS Amplifier Using Noise Reduction Technique of Autozeroing and Chopper Stabilization

1. Introduction Recently, sensor chips using mixed-signal CMOS technology have been applied for sensing and monitoring biological functions [1], [2]. A low-noise amplifier is one of the key circuits for detecting small level signals in the sensor chip. Extremely low voltage operation is required for wireless systems using such new energy sources as solar batteries or bio-batteries. However, wit...
